Would this alternative work?

I recently became eligible for an equipment upgrade, but the phone I wanted, which was advertised on their website for my zip code, well... they said they didn't have it anymore, carry it, or whether Samsung makes it or not.

They told me the replacement model (the new phone replacing it by means of having the same rank as far as "quality" goes). Well, they said it would be about $160+, but I want a flip-phone with a camera, without having to spend too much, 'cause i'm a college student majoring in finance, so i'm fairly a frugal person.

I was wondering, if I were to buy the same exact phone model off of eBay (whether used or new, -most likely used), and put my SIM card in it, would it work just as if I had originally purchased the phone from Cingular before they stopped carrying the model?

I think that phone is still on their website even, though discontinued. It's the Samsung e317. It's probably not the best but it seems like it will do for me, and I like how small it is.

as long as you buy a working phone from E-Bay it will work.
