I have a Motorola T720 GSM phone with Cingular Nation Service. My contract has expired and I want to upgrade my phone to a QWERTY type phone (either a TREO or a Blackberry). I have seen phones for sale on ebay that are much less expensive than what Cingular offers. This is how I got my T720. I bought the phone and just had to pay $35 to activate it.
My question: Is it that simple to transition from my Motorola to a new phone as long as the new phone is unlocked and GSM compatible with Cingular?

that is correct, all you do is transfer your sim card to the new phone...

Tony:
Thanks. Do I still need to go to a Cingular Service Center to activate the new phone, or does the SIM card control all the information needed?

SIM contains all the info. Simply switch it between the phones and as long as the phone is unlocked (or locked to cingular) you should be fine.
