hey, first post, nice forum.
I did a few searches on google and through this site, couldnt find my answer.
I have cingular, i had the nokia 6800 through at&t. When i went to the cingular store to get my new phone they did something to my 6800 which erased my info. He then told me that this phone is still worth something, there are many people that want to upgrade their phone or they have damaged phones from at&t and dont want to resign because they just signed a contract for a few years of service. Now i still have that small card it came with the simm card i believe.
I want to know what they did to the phone. Did they unlock it? Is it locked? Can it only now be used with a preexisting at&t simm card? Is that simm card it came with worth something? Thanks.

For erasing the memory part, I have no clue why he would do that unless he wanted you to resell it to another customer or something to help you out. Now your old sim card isn't any good anymore. Even if you would like to reuse it again you wouldn't be able to.

If your phone is unlocked then almost any sim card would work with the phone, if it is locked then only any AT&T sim card will work.
