I have received the Motorola ROKR phone for Christmas, and already it has broken. A piece of the black part of the headphone jack has chipped. Does anyone know where to take the phone to get it fixed or how to fix it myself? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

P.S. The music still plays out of the speakers, but when i plug in the headphones, the phone somehow doesn't recognize that I plugged them in, so it just keeps playing out of the speakers. My sister received the phone also, and we checked to make sure that it wasn't the headphones. We put my headphones in her phone, and they worked. We put her headphones in my phone, and it still stayed on the speakers. Please help.

I would take the phones to a Cingular store and see if they can exchange the non working one for one that does work with the headphone. You want to take them both in to show them that one works with the head phones and the other one doesn't. Or call cutomer service, and do it fast since it's only been a month they may exchange it for you. If you got insurance on the phone, that should cover it as well.

At the very least they may opt to repair it and you will be without a phone for awhile. But from the sounds of it the headphone jack itself will need to be replaced and not sure if it's something you want to try doing. Mainly because you'd more likely than not have to open the phone and desolder the part and resolder a new one in it's place, voiding your warrenty at best, and at the worst, ruining the PC board if you mess up.

Your phone has a 1 year warranty. Call 800-801-1101 and press the options for warranty and not insurance. This is a dedicated number for warranty support.

Oh, does that mean that Cingular will replace my phone or that they will only fix it? I'm hoping to get a replacement, and now I'm wondering if that's at all possible.

More likely than not, they will replace it with the same model phone. As wwEchoComm said, as long as it's still under warrenty they will tend to replace it. The suggestion to take it back where it was bought was to get a replacement on the spot vs waiting to have a replacement shipped or having it repaired.

So a simple phone call should put your fears at rest, just call the number wwEchoComm posted and get the ball rolling.
