I have Verzion and I am satisified however i have heard Cingular is pretty good. I want the PTT feature, and I want to know how well the PTT works? RollOver also sounds great. Is there a maximum number of mins. that you can stock up on?

Well I haven't been able to try it out personally, but I can tell you that it is $9.99/mo. and Cingular currently only has 2 phones available for the PTT service: LG F7200 and Samsung D357

    Spirre,

Unless everyone you know that you'd want to talk to, has PTT and has a phone that can actually do PTT, it's not worth it, not matter what carrier you are with.

HAving seen some of the web ads for Cingular PTT, you'd think it was something all Cingular users can do. But unless everyone you know is first, using Cingular, and second decides to buy a new phone when you buy your phone, and gets a PTT plan, it's not happening.

And even if the phones that are capable to do PTT had software upgrades to allow for it, the people would still need to add a PTT plan to their service.

So the PTT isn't that useful?

It's useful, but only useful if you and the people you will be using it with, all have phones that have the feature. Otherwise you have a phone with a walkie talkie feature that allows you to talk to no one.

Now if when you get a phone that does PTT and all the rest of your friends and family do the same thing, then it's useful, because then you have some to use the walkie talkie feature with.

    Nickel,

It's one of those "Gotta Have" Features. They make it look like it's something you can't live without. I think the deal is you can see who is willing to talk and who's not on your screen. Kinda like IM. You can see who's busy, away, blah blah.

But I'm like you, LOL ..

I call someone and it goes to VM, I know instantly they are busy, talking on the phone or just didn't feel like answering. And people know if I don't pick up, it's normally because, well I can't answer at that second! Isn't that the whole idea when it comes to NOT answering the phone? If it's mission critical, I tend to have enough brains to call back.

The best thing about a phone call vs PTT, the people around you won't have to hear both sides of the conversation. So far I have only seen one person in public use a ear piece while using PTT. Most of the time you get to hear the person yelling into their phone and then hear the other person yelling back through the speaker phone. Plus the little CHIRPS, that will drive you nuts after all the back and forth for several mins.

I agree with you guys. I hate sitting in a restaurant or walking in the mall or a store and all you hear is "BLEEP!" And you have to listen to both sides of the conversation. But, with Cingular's PTT phones, you can convert the PTT call to a regular call without having to hang up and call back. So if it's going to be a long conversation, or something you don't want people to hear, just convert to a regular call.

Heheh that's what voice mail is for. Unless you are "MY" brain surgeon, that call can wait. IMHO

The three times I got a emergency call, with a txt message, pager notice or VM notice, I was half way to my car as I was calling them back. If I had Cingular's Push to talk, I'd have to of course have friends, family and co-workers that had it as well.

So for me anyway, until Push to Talk is a universal thing (meaning does not matter what carrier you have, it is useable between them), I won't have it, and if I did, that "BLEEP", had better be life or death, because the first time it was "Bring home a gallon of milk", there would be Blkbear on CNN having been the first Push to Talk murderer!

Verizon has PPT. If you are a satisfied Verizon customer, why go through the hassle of changing carriers for a feature that is already available to you?
