Hi all. I was wondering if you could please help me select a new phone for my Cingular service?

I currently have the Motorola V220 which is horrible. I have no reception to speak of, drop calls, can't use it in my home, it buzzes in my ear. *^%(*&^$ to say the nicest thing I can! ha

So, what I'm wanting in a phone:
    1. Excellent reception. I've been told numerous times that I'm in the best coverage area here in the KC market. I definitely want to use my phone at home. This is a MUST.

    2. Excellent and loud sound. I want something that can blast my eardrums both when it rings/vibrates and when I'm talking. I don't hear well and this is a MUST.

    3. I'd like to have the caller-id on the outside if a flip phone. I like the flip phones, but not necessarily a must.

    4. A nice camera (with flash maybe?) would be great but not if I have to sacrifice #1 and #2.

    5. All the usual stuff on a phone.

    6. Oh, and a good battery life is a plus. I sometimes talk for an hour or two (or three if it's mom) at a time. It'd be great if I didn't have to recharge just because I called mom!

Thanks for your feedback and suggestions. I'm really getting confused with all the choices out there.

Yeah, you'd think it'd help. Unfortunately I've already talked to a couple folks there (actually 4 so far) and they can tell me a lot about the phones features that are listed by the manufacturer, but not so much about reception and audio control. I was hoping to get an idea of those items from users of the phones.

My hubby has a LG phone (Sprint PCS service) that I'd love to have with everything I need, but I can't find a model number on it to see if Cingular offers the same phone. Any idea how to find a model number of a phone?

Any other comments and help selecting a phone would be very much appreciated. Thanks! Have a great day.

Usually you can pull the back off where the battery is and they hide the info in there. Either on the cover itself or under the battery somewhere.

Okay, found it and checked with Cingular. They DO NOT offer this phone. Bummer.

I'm still trying to figure out which one would be best for my hearing problem and reception. I was told today by a Cingular rep. that Nokia is best at reception and speaker/audio issues like I described. But, she seemed a little irritated at my questions and told me I have 30 day to return a phone if I don't like it. But, I'd rather make a good choice the first time and be done instead of going through this all again.

Does anyone agree/disagree that Nokia would be best?
    Thanks!

One option is to find the phone you like, making sure it is GSM, and have it unlocked, or buy it unlocked to begin with. And then buy the sim from Cingular.
That way you get the phone you want with the service you want.

Most cingular stores have a display area where you can try the different phones, make a call and see how well you can hear. From what I have heard the nokia has the best reception. good luck
