Due to divorce, I need to get rid of two of the three phones on my plan. Is there a good way to approach this with Cingular, regarding getting out of the contracts for the two phones but keeping the third one going? Will they be understanding of this, or are they going to hold me to the termination fees for these lines? If they won't work with me on this, I'm probably going to go find a different provider, as the service isn't that good anyway.

Re: Question about reducing my plan
Your best option, if at all possible, would be to do an account transfer on the other 2 lines that you were going to cancel into someone else's name. Either your ex or a friend that might want a new phone. They would probably want to pay the $36 for a phone number change, though. If you are still in contract with the phones, and decide to cancel them, you will be charged the cancellation fee. That's what you agreed to when you signed your contract.

Re: Question about reducing my plan
I have heard that Cingular will make an exception for a death so they may also for divorce.
It does not hurt to ask.
You are still going through the divorce I would mention it to your counsel. If you are going to have to pay a monetary penalty you should at least get credit for it in the divorce.
