Called today 10-9-06 to cancel service because of my roaming on another network, They kicked me out. Talked to a total jerk, He was trying to make it seen like they were doing some kind of a BIG favor for me. I've had Cingular/ATT for years and this is about how they have always been, I've been lied to at the Cingular store. With ATT it was OK, But not Cingular.

I signed with Verizon again (had before Cingular/ATT) and talked to a real nice person there.

I'm glad to be done with Cingular, GOOD BYE AND KI** MY A**

    Can you elaborate on this?

They kicked you out? Of your contract?

This is a very confusing post.

Yes they canceled my service because I roamed more than 50% of the time. I signed up for Verizon and ported my numbers, So I called to make sure that I had a canceled service.

    Re: Cingular Customer Service

It's really an inconvenience for you, I understand.

But the "favor" they are speaking of is that you are let out of your contract, with no ETF. And you have a phone that you can sell to make a bit of extra cash.

Try to look at the bright side, man. Now you most likely have a carrier who you'll be using on "their" network. This should mean better service.

    Re: Cingular Customer Service

No, I bought the phones from Cingular less than 7 months ago as an upgrade from the basic phones($250 about). I have to drive 30 miles each way to the nearest Cingular store and I did that 5 times because of phone problems. (Gas at $3.00 a gal/ 13 miles per gal) I drove truck until I had an heart attack a few months ago so I used my service all over the 48 states, It was when I had to stay at home that I did the roaming, My kids called to talk to me all the time because they had Cingular too. Funny thing about all this is their contracts ran out with Cingular after I got my letter so they canceled their service too (6 lines all together) We are all happily on Verizon now.

    30 miles away?

When you signed up, did you give them your home address? And they ok'd the service coverage?

Personally, that's way too far to go for a store to solve/help your problems. My rule of thumb is if I can't find a store in town, or really close, I'm not using that carrier.

Congrats though on your new carrier!

    Re: Cingular Customer Service

Yes they said I was in their signal area. I live very close to RT 70, If I go 2000' east I get Cingular service, But at home T-Mobile has full signal that my phone roamed and locked on to. Verizon has a tower closer to me than T-Mobile so thats why I went with them and it also has service where T-Mobile doesn't around here.
