OK so i unlocked this phone via one of those online sites. Went from T mobile to cingular, now the phone works but reception is pretty awful. I know the roaming agreements and have read all the posts about this t809 phone BUT it seems as if i only really get service when im near a tmobile tower, Example i would get near perfect reception at my house with my slvr but now i barely get 1 bar. But at walmart i never got any reception inside, but now thats the only place in town where i get reception.
constant dropped calls
inability to text message
no access to the web/
I am just wondering some people said be able to download things you need to have cingular send you the "packets" i was wondering if this would help locate cingular towers etc. Any tips? Ideas? this phone is essentially useless as it.

Re: tmobile to cingular AWFUL RECEPTION?!!?!
Even though your phone is now working on cingular's service you may have to flash your phone to cingular's firmware, there are a few differences in the firmware on these phones and one is the ability to jump from the old att towers to cingular ones. Seems to be the prob your having is being that you have t-mobile firmware you can't take advantage of all the towers in your area. For a walkthough on flashing/flexing your phone you can check out modmymoto.com (that is if it's a moto your trying to mod I did read that you have a L7 and don't know the maker of your t809) do a little searching on google if you need help or call cingular they my be able to fix your problem with one of their "packets".

Aren't roaming lists on the SIMs on GSM phones? It shouldn't be a firmware issue.

Re: tmobile to cingular AWFUL RECEPTION?!!?!
Roaming has nothing to do with it the new cingular phones (or any out right now for that matter) has software encoded on the phone that allows them to switch seemlessly from a cingular tower to a old att tower, as cingular and att merged they have to allow their customers to take advantage of the merger. T-mo firmware does not have this abilty hence the loss of signal strength from a cingular phone to a t-mo phone working with cingular service.

Re: tmobile to cingular AWFUL RECEPTION?!!?!
so i just got the cable for my computer and was wondering if i could use that along with some program to "flash" the software i havent dealt with samsung phones before or anyhting like this. the closest to this stuff ive done was unlocking a l6 to quadband with a few programs. As for calling cingular anyone know of a number i could call for North America where i wont get some dunce?
i say dunce because when i go into cingular (for my l6) their suggestion was to insure it and "lose it" they had no idea you could unlock a triband phone to quadband

I would love to but a far as samsungs I would have no idea how to help you. My knowledge on moto's is extensive and even the things I don't do all the time are pretty simple but samsungs are another story. I wouldn't charge you anyways.
