I don't like them very much, been with them for like 2 years now (stupid contract, thought it was only 1 Ends in 2 months though). I rarely get any reception where most of my friends get it at. I don't even get reception at my own house! I am gonna switch over to T-Mobile soon, seems to have better reception where I am located at (Atlanta, GA).

RUN AS FAST AS U CAN!
In fact... Don't just RUN! You might want to grow wings and FLY away from Cingular as fast as you can!!!
Do a Google search on Cingular Complaints and get a fast education regarding the facts about just how crappy their service is... you'll be amazed to learn that they have more complaints than all ther other providers combined!
Well Folks... The Official Study results are in... and it doesn't look very good for Cingular... or AT&T... or Sprint.
These three are at the bottom of the pile for major problems regarding poor coverage/reception, overbilling and general billing errors, REFUSAL to correct billing errors, and overall poor customer service.
I personally became interested in this subject after having a multitude of service and billing problems with Cingular for over two years. These problems eventually led to my receiving a bill for over $3,000... when the bill should have been no more than $300.
Granted, I had experienced this problem with Cingular before... but NEVER on this scale! At first, I thought that a simple phone call would straighten everything out... But it didn't. And that's where the nightmare began. To make a long story short... Cingular ended up basically extorting over $1000 bucks from my family over this situation... and they even damaged my credit in a malicious manner.
For those of you out there that are satisfied with your Cingular service... I'm glad for you, and you should consider yourself VERY lucky because you would not believe how many people on the Internet are complaining about getting ripped-off by Cingular!
Check out the details at my site if you want, and if you have any questions feel free to email me for more info.

Re: ???
I'm glad you have had a good experience... and that your reception was good also. As for mine reception... it was great... as long as I stood one-legged on a tall stool in my kitchen with my right cheek pressed hard against the topmost pane in the upper left corner of the window beside the table.
And even then the signal would come and go.
For the strongest signal at my home I had to stand in the MIDDLE of the street dodging cars. My neighbors thought I was crazy... until they learned I had Cingular! Then everything was OK and it actaully turned out to be a joke becasue almost everybody in our town here knows how bad Cingular sucks!

LOL.....I'm rolling on the floor, you are too funny.......It's odd though.because I had cingular in the past and it was okay and it actually worked in my home......I signed up for it again, because of the 7:00 pm free nights, well now for some reason the phone doesn't work in the house..I don't get it.....Like the others said, I could be sitting here still and the signal comes and goes........but maybe I should try standing on the stool on my left leg, with my cheek pressed up against the window and my butt up in the air and maybe just maybe the signal with come back...HHHMMMM, I'll try that.......LOL

here in northwest florida where i live cingular has good coverage. i had them in the past and they always had decent coverage and usually was just as good if not better than other providers that my friends had. i just left alltel that i've had for the past year, and they absolutely sucked... and i always dropped calls or had no service.
also, cingular has great customer service. i'm not sure i'd listen to some of the propaganda that people like 'cingular_bad' have stated on the thread.
for example, i personally had a $998 phone bill with cingular because my now ex-wife was cheating on me... and was using her phone non-stop to talk to her boyfriend and what not. well we were on the family plan and i didn't know she was abusing the minutes like that. so i of course freaked out when i saw the bill. i immediately called cingular customer service and talked to a very nice young lady that helped me out a crap load. she backed dated an upgrade plan for me so that it dropped my bill down to like $200 dollars... or something like that. saved me about $800 bucks. that's great customer service in my book and i highly recommend cingular.

i dont think cingular is the greatest, but it isnt the worst either. sure their customer service has some problems, but they have pretty good prices and i got a $300 phone for free. if you dont ever have to deal with their customer service then its pretty good overall. i have been all over in the past few days and havent noticed a single place where i dont get service...i even have 2 bars in my english class which has about 3 foot thick concrete walls probably lined with lead, as the building was built back in the 30s.

Cingular Bad
I have been having nothing but trouble with Cingular and will be cancelling my service agreement with them at this time. They overcharged my account for the last 12 billing cycles and refuse to give me a credit for 9 of the over-charges. They state that their " policy " is to refund overcharges only for the most recent three months - even though the charges are a result of their own mistake.
If you cjheck your monthly statements you will find errors and overcharges on a regular basis. Cingular makes the Customer check their work - and their mistakes are always in their favor it seems. I have called their Customer Service Dept. several times and have sent them four letters in order to clear this up. They refuse to refund the charges even though I have been a customer for over 5 years.
Another big drawback is their roaming charges which are way, way too high based on what most of their competitors are charging at this point. If you travel out of your home area the calls can easily cost $3.00 to $5.00 each for a very short (2 to 3 minute) call. Another problem is that they will continue to bill you for roaming calls for two or three cycles after your make the call. And, of course, in doing so they OFTEN will bill you for the same call more than once.
Cingular just is a terrible company to do business with at this point. There are way too many other providers to chose from.
Run - don't walk - away from Cingular.
