XP PRo seems alot more stable. I rarely have problems and when i do it's usually the software i use. I reinstalled 98 once and got alot of "Windows has performd an illegal operation" I've never see that in XP...

I just formatted my HD two nights ago due to currupt Audigy KX drivers that would not reinstall. Fortunately, I was able to back up all the important stuff.

I tried XP but could not get on with it. Run all the computers on Win98 Second Edition and have no problem with Cubase. They are all 1.00 Ghz machines with 512 PC133 memory and SB Live so not state of the art. Record at my friends and he uses AMD Athlon 1Ghz, 256 DDR and Win 98 Second Edition with SB Audigy. Records excellent live guitar through a POD. Really good original music and it never crashes! Have used Windows 2000 for ordinary computing and it seems to be very stable, not used it for music yet. Anybody else used it for music?

I really like Windows XP. Don't have any stability issues at all. Maybe you need a hardware upgrade?

I find XP fast enough on my machine, just as snappy as 2000, but a little more complete in functionality...

It is scalable, and you can lower the visual setting down to a level that you might find better.
