Yeah, Java is rising and C is declining, but I still like the added sense of control that can be had with C (pointers, memory editing, etc..)

Whoever said c is too confusing obviously has no idea what he's talking about.
C is used in the academic community - C++ is more industrially accepted.
Just read a book and write a couple programs.

java will always be the garbage that it is. if you want performance and stablility, C++
if you want something that is portable, consider java. but i think c# might be on the rise
