i have an AMD and it works terribly well!! my game run perfectly and itīs a great machiune

Pentium, Never trusted AMD, they have a habit of locking up 2 much!

For gaming....AMD 64, all the way.

For everyday use, the P4.

I say for gaming and everyday use, AMD 64 is the best option. But for video encoding and things like that, the P4 will be best.

Amd locking up?
Well you can definitely say that AMD these days are cheaper and are the same in performance. Pentium is good but all about the name.

Well, it all depends on what you want to do in general. But it also depends on if you want to overclock as well. Some of the newer Intel Dothan chips can clock pretty high as a desktop system and beat AMD 64 systems and be extremely quiet as well since it doesn't put out much heat at all. But it depends on the "right" configuration and settings. But, overall AMD 64 is beating Intel in pretty much everything.

Intel is more expensive for the same speed, but if something goes wrong with the CPU it is easy get a new for free under warrenty.

This info comes from a friend that worked at a local computer store in 2003. So this I don't know today if this has changed, but I would guess it is the same.

I have a P4 but i think AMD are better. My next pc will be an AMD
