laptops

hi, (a long time i havent post) well here i am again with another question to the computer people. I just wanted to know is it worst buying a laptop. My cousin said that the hard drive thing is to small so theres not much memory. And can anyone tell is there laptops like aroung $500 or around there? I just want to know cause i need one to do homework and everything and my brothers are too busy with this one

If you're looking for one to do homework and stuff on then you can tell your cousin that you don't NEED that much hard drive space and memory anyway ... if you're looking for your own personal gaming station - well - that's another thing entirely.

My laptop is a bought-used bare-bones lil HP. I lug it around the house to keep up with CPF and school work while keeping up with the kid. I have a desktop that has my music stuff connected and, as my husband says, "You added a card with extra USB ports then filled every one of those too!" (And people say I can't accessorize... yeesh... what do they know?)...

$549 even gets you a new Dell so I imagine - so long as you're not wanting loads of fanciness- that you can find something affordable if you look. a 40 gig hard drive and 256MB of memory is PLENTY for homework, browsing, and chatting.

But if you keep an eye out for second hand ones, you could get a PIII 600mhz, 256MB RAM 40GB HDD, for about $400 probably! And thats plenty for jobs not too big! No point in buying a new one if your not going to be busting the power out of it!
