One of my computer ran real hot last night. It is a AMD Duron process. When it cools off I was able to turn it on, and as soon as the window came one it turn off again.
How can the problem resolved? Do I have to buy a whole motherboard? A friend of mine told it can be the little that is on top of cpu, need to be replaced. Can someone please help! Thank you in advance.

As long as the Processor hasnt burned out, and its just the fan is acting up, all you need is a new fan, shouldnt be too dear. Just dont keep the comp running or it will melt the Processor.

Without trying to step on Robbs toes, I would bet he recommended a case for two reasons. One, is the newer cases are more well ventilated (ie: larger/more fan(s), vents) and two, for an upgraded power supply. Most PCs come with a woefully inadequate power supply and if you have added on any new equipment (DVD/cd burner etc.) you have likely over-maxed the power supply adding to your heating load. Just my $.02.
