This is just a theory (I haven't tried it as of yet) But change the way you veiw your files to detailed and see if you can change them that way. Or... save as file type mp3... maybe?

you need to convert it. changing the file extension will not work for most files.

there is no way to convert MP3 to MIDI.... deal is... the phone looks for the MID extension to know how to file it - although it recognizes the format when its time to play it.... so a misnomer is all that's needed

if you wnat to force change the extension, you first need to enable the 3 letter extension first by going to options, foler options and show extension.
and there is a way to convert mp3 to midi, a whole bunch of list poped up when you [URL=if you wnat to force change the extension, you first need to enable the 3 letter extension first by going to options, foler options and show extension. and there is a way to convert mp3 to midi, a whole bunch of them when you google.
and to note, mp3 is a physical record of the music, midi is only like the note (or whatever you call it) for the music and it is read by the midi hardware and reproduced. hence a lot smaller

Hey jeanie heres the easiest way, Goto start > run, and then run CMD when that loads up use the "cd" (cd and then the name of the dir, and use "cd .. "to go back a directory) command to get to the dir the file is in and then when your there run the command "rename file.mp3 file.mid"
file being the name of the mp3, and there ya go, done!
Or, i just realised! head over to the ringtone section and download my program to fix the extensions, that will change it to .mid for ya!

You're both right, Mp3 can be converted to MIDI but the outcome is usuaslly so bad its not worth the time, so in a way it cant be done.

Answer:
In a Windows explorer window... tools, folder options, view... check "show hidden files and folders," uncheck "hide extensions for known file types"....
