Shame, shame, shame.. here's a copy of an "official ebay message" from "EBAY" I have in an UNREGISTERED Email:

Ok, first, i just want to say, my email that this was sent to, is NOT registered in ebay, lol

    Dear, --censored email from spyders--,

We regret to inform you that your eBay account has been suspended due
to concerns we have for the safety and integrity of the eBay community.

Per the User Agreement, Section 9, we may immediately issue a warning,
temporarily suspend, indefinitely suspend or terminate your membership
and refuse to provide our services to you if we believe that your
actions may cause financial loss or legal liability for you, our users or
us. We may also take these actions if we are unable to verify or
authenticate any information you provide to us.

Due to the suspension of this account, please be advised you are
prohibited from using eBay in any way. This includes the registering of a new account.

To remove your eBay account limitations signin and confirm your registration.

    --WEBSITE CENSORED FOR SCAMMER PROTECTION--

Anyway, a new generation of scammers have bestowed upon us. Cyber-terrorists? Not yet... but someday... who knows, lol Here's the "official email address":

    [email protected]

    - If you recieve an email from this, REPORT SPAM -

Now, a NORMAL ebay email address is [email protected], that goes to show you... beware!

Yeah I have had a similar email sent ot me telling me that my account was being used "suspiciously" and i should contact [email protected] to validate my information, and they would then let me either approve or diasapprove of the transactions in question... Well anyone with half a brain knows you can go right ot your ebay account and see what "transactions" have taken place... needless to say i spammed it.

This is kind of an old thread, but since everyone else started posting to it today, here's my two-cents:

You should NEVER give out any personal information, usernames, passwords, etc. unless YOU initiated the transaction. If you ever have any doubts, trust your gut and DON'T DO IT. If you get a suspicious email from ebay or paypal, send it to "spoof@(ebay or paypal).com" and you will receive a reply that will tell you either yes, it was a fraud, or no, we really sent it to you. this also alerts them to the site so they can take action to shut it down.

Ebay has a free toolbar you can install to your browser, and it warns you if you ever wander into a potentially fraudulent ebay site. Also, the toolbar has a green indicator thet lights up when you are on an authorized ebay/paypal site.

Yes, phishing and pharming is a part of life now. I have gotten spoof emails from ebay, paypal, washington mutual, and even my credit union. It's very important to be cautious and suspicious of anything that comes in an email. When my e-bills come and tell me they are due, I never click the link in the email, I type the address directly into my browser to make sure I am not falling victim to a spoof mail.

    Hope this helps
