I would recommend the Klipsch Promedia 2.1. I have them and they're pretty decent.

I second the Klipsch. I have the 4.1 myself. The frequency respons is great and the sub sounds good. They're THX Certified which means it meets high quality standards for sound reproduction. If you live in an appartment or something where you have a neighbour or room mate near by, be sure to turn down the sub or you'll get some banging on the walls to keep it down... :P Search for some reviews online, they've reviewed it on Anandtech, firingsquad, 3dsoundsurge and others.

i put all my faith in Creative brands, especially if you have a Creatvie soundblaster. my current 5.1 surround system has worked great for around 3 years, and believe me all the neighbors hear it when i am listening to music.

i ordered mine from staples.com, read more at creative.com

All depends on what you want to spend. Big money, big sound = Klipsch. Medium money, big sound = Logitech.

It's not how big the sound is, but the quality of it. Klipsch puts out some quality stuff, but it's all down to preference, and if you can actually hear the difference. Some people like the way certain speakers sound, and some could care less as long as they hear something. Best thing to do is to go try them out and listen for yourself. Compare the speakers with the same material (Bring your own CD to the store) and decide for yourself which one would be suitable for you. You're the one who's going to be using it, so make the decision for yourself. For me, it would be the Klipsch, cuz it just sounds natural to me.

Klipsch.....the only way to go. Logitech are allright, but Klipsch are head and shoulders above them all.

Only problem with Klipsch is their price. Unless you're a true audio aficionado, they aren't worth the money.

Depends on a few things. Do you know what sound card you have? DO you prefer power over clarity or vice versa? What's your budget? If you have onboard sound or something kinda old and crappy there's no point in buying Klipsch. If you want blasting power go with logitech. Klipsch for clarity. Lastly, if you have a tight budget, stick with a 2.1 setup. Personally, I like the Logitech Z5500's. My ears aren't so "finely" tuned like some people like to pretend. I can't hear a difference between the 5500's and the Klipsch Promedia 5.1 setup.

I think it depends on you personal taste and what you really need them for. For instance you may just want it to watch films or listen to music or even play games.
