Re: Your Choice of AntiVirus Software...
I like the free subscription of McAfee with my new dell inspiron b130
On my site, I'm hosting Outpost firewall... check it out, I was using it for a little while, and, very unusual to me for a new anti-virus application, it's supprizingly good!

Re: Your Choice of AntiVirus Software...
I have NIS 2005 on my newest PC, and the other wouldnt do well eventhough it does do great job, on the more better PC to handle lots feature that Norton has, and I prefer AVG 7.1 plus Firewall on other PCs including my notebook. So far I never had to reinstall any harddrives.. AVG does great job as I can tell... so are Norton too..

My vote goes goes for Kaspersky. I've been using it since I first bought a PC and I've never had any problems. Fellow Russians sure do make great software

Re: Your Choice of AntiVirus Software...
I personally vote for Symantec (Norton). I've always loved Norton's Live Update, and always loved how user friendly, quick and nice Norton is. I'm using Norton Anti-Virus Corporate edition right now, as I bring this computer to work everyday with me, and in order to be allowed use it on the local network I must have this anti-virus software. My wife uses Norton Anti-Virus 2006, which is more or less the same thing, and it works great for her too.
I've used McAfee a few times, I find it very un-friendly to work with, and it doesn't have as many options that can be changed as Norton (system auto-start up options and warnings to be exact).
Again, my vote, Norton,

Re: Your Choice of AntiVirus Software...
For everyone who likes AVG:
It's not bad, my co-worker here at the office uses it and he seems to like it. However, on the work computers, it eats so many resources with it's real time continuous scanning, it bogs the computers down. Hence why we use Norton Corporate, not as much wasted resources.

Re: Your Choice of AntiVirus Software...
weird, it doesn't seem to slow my home pc at all. norton however, did show signs of strain on the system.
i guess that's why there's so many choices.
thanks, abom!!

Re: Your Choice of AntiVirus Software...
I use Kaspersky Anti Virus and Ewido Anti Malware. Both are very good programs, as long as you keep your defintions updated (as with all anti virus/malware programs). KAV and Ewido do an excellent job of keeping my machine running bug free. Kaspersky even lets me know when I am being port scanned. I used to use Zone Alarm Pro, but I found it to be way too overzealous in that it would always attempt to block trusted programs from running. That's why I switched to Kaspersky and Ewido.
