Is it just a password on windows, or a BIOS password(does it come up before any mention of an OS)

If its a bios one, a bios flash would do, or open it up(if ya know what ur doin) and take out the main battery and the CMOS battery, its just a small round battery like that in a watch or something, and make sure the mains isnt plugged in either, and leave it alone for a while about 5-10 mins, and this will wipe the BIOS settings and the password, If its a Windows password, a re-install will do, or try and get into the Admin account, by default the password on this is blank.

Well the password show up after window finish booting up. It is Win 2000. The fact that my friend does not have a cd-rom I don't have no way around the re-install part.

How do I get to the admin account part? Please help me. Thanks.

Sorry, that I did not reply sooner, but the laptop situation was already fix. A friend of mine had one just like it and I borrowed the External cd-rom from him. I reinstall the lt for the client and problem. I think the thread should now. Again, Thank you everyone for all the support.
