Torrents - JUST like a p2p file-sharing program. but you download a .TORRENT file to determine a location. They're just like p2p!

    Re: Torrents??

    yeah, but torrents are better!

instead of downloading from peers possessing a complete file, you can download bits and pieces from others who are downloading the same file. so while you're downloading your favorite munsters episode, you're simultaneously uploading it to some other user.

it's pretty sweet. but i can understand how it's somewhat confusing to get started into it. check out a post from my blog:

    http://n1ckel5.blogspot.com/2006/03/...-torrents.html

it has some decent info for beginners.

Yes torrents are great..I was lucky enough to get into Wild-Bytes.org before they quit taking new members....Great site and the newest movies and games with lots of seeders and top speed downloads.....I use others to like thepiratebay.org and seedler.org...Sometimes you can get dvd quality movies and not the cam stuff a couple months before it hits the stores....But usually 2-4 weeks before retail release....

You will need to download a torrent program to start off...I use Azureus and like it alot, but it seems to take alot of cpu power to run it.....

I prefer LimeWire, I've done all and I never had any decent download speed, but now with LimeWire Pro I can download more than 100 kb/sec instead 20kb /sec like the other p2p plus crappy adveristments...

That is inherent with any Java based apps. Java is a bit of a resource hog. I use Azureus too, and I can really tell a difference when it is running...

Thats why we use Bit Torrent. More variety, less advertisements only downside is it being slow plus you need to find an active torrent (sometimes hard)
