I actually tried that and that doesn't work either because My whole Computer and BIOS doesn't see the drives, which is why I wasn't thinking it was a OS issue in the beginning.

Re: CD ROM Not detected by computer/BIOS
Did you end up getting this fixed? How large of flashdrive do you have?
You could technically put the whole windows xp cd on a flashdrive (legally too) and boot from that.
But, before doing that, I am not sure if you said it, but have you reset your cmos by pulling the cmos battery and seeing if that had any effect?
There is a good chance you cd drive is toast also, have you tried using another, or trying yours on a different computer?
Also try moving the cdrom to a different ide channel, basically another cable, and see if you find any result.

Re: CD ROM Not detected by computer/BIOS
WOW! My brother was trying to fix it and he did a bunch of stuff, he finally did something in the BIOS and fixed it! YAY! Now I have a laptop and a desktop even though I only really bought the laptop for the CD Drive hehe... I'm reinstalling Windows for the heck of it anyway!
