So, there are a lot of comptuers, obviously, everyone in here has to use a pc to do certain things in the forums. And, of those lots of computers, some are stock, some are home built, ie custom. How many of you built your own machines, and how many have a stock machine. What manufacturer for all ur parts, Like I have an AMD cpu, a Jetway Mobo, A Western Digital hard drive and a Maxtor hard drive... brands rather. And this all started with a stock machine, the eMachine's T3990. And as far as eMachine's goes, they are a great company, who builds solid pcs, and they have a good customer service ranking. A lot better than Dell any day!

Re: Stock or Custom, Which do you have?
So far in all the years of owning a DOS/Windows based computer, they have all been home built. I did own a TI-PRO for a short time (picked it up used for $50 bucks), and bought a DOS card for it.
Home built works for me.

Re: Stock or Custom, Which do you have?
What stores did you get your stock machines from? Mine is from Best Buy of course, the rest of the stuff for upgrading is from PC Factory, which is basically a company that has a bunch of internet stores in their "good side" so they get good deals, so I'm basically buyin from the net, but using them as a credit card per say.

Re: Stock or Custom, Which do you have?
You mean a custom notebook? Yes, you can! I saw it in Maximum PC, it was in two mags. It tells you where to find the parts and stuff. Of course you are pretty restricted when building your own, becuase of the case and stuff, But yes, you can build a custom laptop, I just would rather build a tower.

Actually, the built a pretty high end Laptop for about 800 dollars, which is pretty good compared to it's counterpart for about 1200.00.

Re: Stock or Custom, Which do you have?
The laptop i have would be handy to mod, open up the back of it and you have access to the whole mother board, and it just uses normal ram, aswell. Sometime when i get the money i might do a bit of a custom job on it

Re: Stock or Custom, Which do you have?
It does use a "sense" of normal ram. The ram cards are actually very small, then again, it depends on manufacturer. Only very very few laptops actually use normal sized ram, also depends on what you mean by normal ram, like 128 pin and what not, and DDR4 and so on.
