If any of you use CloneCD 4 for 1:1 CD duplication, you're probably aware of a detection in the installation program that disables a few setting if you are physically located in the USA or Japan.
CloneCD 4 Region Killer is a great little tool that will unlock the "Amplify Weak Sectors" and "Hide CDR Media" features of CloneCD 4 for users located in the USA and Japan.
Njoy!

It was one of 2 things...
A. I was trying to build up the suspense (or)
B. I was an idiot and forgot to attach the file.

Does this work for older versions of CloneCD as well?
- 10-21-2002, 11:49 AM #5
As far as I know - It is for any version of Clone 4xx.
I have NOT tested it with older version (3xx)[.home] [.faq] [.search] [.active] [.chat] [.hitrax]

amplify weak sectors
What exactly is amplify weak sectors supposed to do?
- 11-01-2002, 12:24 AM #9
Amplify Weak Sectors is a general term associated with the Safedisk V2 protection. During the burning process certain sectors of this protection become unwriteable, The AWS option patches these sectors with good data so it can be written and read by a cd drive. There are drives avaliable that can copy this protection without checking this feature. But for those that can't this option exists, and doesn't always work. If you can't copy it, you can't copy it.
This option is not available on U.S. and Japan installations.
Clone CD checks your regional settings during install to see if your computer currently resides in one of these countries and filters out these two options. If your regional settings (control panel ---> regional settings) are set to another country then you have access to these features.
That is one way to enable the settings (on Clone installation).
The other is to run the region killer.[.home] [.faq] [.search] [.active] [.chat] [.hitrax]

Thanks for the explanation..I've read that term a few places but no one really explained what it was heh. I own the TDK 24/10/40B, do you know if I need to check this option? And if not, will checking it make any difference?

Keeping it checked usually never hurts anything.
It's primarily for working around CDs with Safdisk2 protection.[.home] [.faq] [.search] [.active] [.chat] [.hitrax]
