Re: How much Ram
Me too have heard for the first time 8GB RAM.Well, the system must be able to support that kind of RAM and I don't think such high RAM is required.

Re: How much Ram
4 gigs is overkill imo. Running Age of Conan on highest settings with various other apps open rarely even touches 2 gigs for me.
Unless you're playing an intense rendered game or you're trying to compile script/graphics, you don't need the ram.

Re: How much Ram
I recently got an assembled PC with Intel MoBo & chip and filled it with 8GB RAM - thats the max it supports.
Newer Intel motherboard seems to support 16GB RAM.

Re: How much Ram
Right now i am using a computer with 2 GB of ram. I think this is really fast, but i dream of one day having 4 GB of ram...
UPDATE:
I guess i am using about 3 GB of ram. 2GB Internal, and one using ready boost. I dont think this is compatable with XP, but im not sureLast edited by pilif12p; 08-22-2008 at 07:01 PM. Reason: update

Re: How much Ram
In all honesty supported ram is dependant on your hardware, OS and software used. Certain hardware supports different amounts of ram and likewise with the OS.
In addition the software you use may have limits on the amount of ram it will use.
Add all these things up and you have different values for different computer configurations.
Myself I have 1.5 gigs, XP 64 and my hardware only supports a maximum of 2 gigs.
So for me it would be pointless to get more than 2 gigs.

Re: How much Ram
I am pretty content with 1GB of Ram, certainly does the job of light web browsing, occasional movie watching, and the random tinkering in Photoshop every now and then. Out of interest though how does everyone find out what their hardwares maximum support of Ram is?

Re: How much Ram
Max RAM supported for a 32-bit MotherBoard is 4GB.
I've read that Windows 32-bit can't seem to 'see' more than 3GB or so.
If you have a 64-bit PC+OS then dont hesitate to get yourself 4+GB of RAM.
64-bit processors can support upto 16EB (ExaByte).
Newer boards like Intel Desktop Board D5400XS can support 16GB RAM capacity.

Re: How much Ram
yoou can never have enough ram, it also depends on what you need it for, if you run a server you need more ram then if you are doing regular daily routines

Re: How much Ram
I'm not a computer expert or anything but I went to one of those custom pc places where they build them. The people that work there said that max that you can get is 32gbs of ram. I can't say if this is true or not.
