Re: How much Ram
This is really overkill unless you are using your computer for graphics intense applications.

Re: How much Ram
Too much?
Well, I never thought that.
But hey willyable, what does overkill mean? I'm really curious, what would happen if one put a lot of RAM.

Re: How much Ram
Ah, never really too much RAM, only ram could be goin to waste, The most you can have on a 32-bit board is 4gigs anyway so anymore than that would be too much, but not in a bad way, just pointless!

Re: How much Ram
4GB is not too much in this day and age. Since Vista came out I have quickly realised that what I once considered enough is in truth woefully inadequate.

Re: How much Ram
If you're adding RAM, be sure to increase your virtual memory.
nilpo.com/2007/07/windows-xp/the-truth-about-virtual-memory/
4gb won't even register on a 32-bit. if you're goin big, get a 64-bit os
Another thing I read was that if you add RAM prior to isntalling Windows, Windows would register it better ???

Re: How much Ram
That was probably in reference to the amount of virtual memory that Windows allocates, this is hard drive space that windows uses for memory paging. You can go back and increase this at anytime, but most people don't.

Re: How much Ram
It depends on your Processor and MotherBoard too. I have 2gb of Ram on my laptop, and it works just fine, btw I have AMD 1.8ghz processor (so you can get the idea)

Re: How much Ram
Anything 3GB is overkill in my opinion. I've personally used 4GB in HD Video Editing and hardcore gaming and it's never come close to using more than 2.5 gb of ram. So thus, anything over 3gb is a waste.
