At CES, Samsung has unveiled the new Spinpoint M6, the world's first 2.5 inch hard drive with a 500GB capacity. It's made up of three separate 166GB platters, but the three fit together to be just 9.5 mm tall, so it can fit into any number of different devices without causing a particular size challenge. The Spinpoint M6 has a 5400 rpm spindle speed, an 8MB and a 3.0Gbps

Its amazing they are able to fit 500gb in the space of a laptop drive now. Five years ago 100gb in a normal enclosure was something.
