Anyone Else Notice Youtube Is Turning Into Junk?

I like Youtube, but it has changed for the worst. It used to have all types of unique videos and clips from TV shows. But now they delete TV and Movie clips because of the Copy Right issues. People keep posting Picture-Compilations, masked as videos. Every clip seems to have spam posted all over them. And now that Youtube allows people to post comments over videos, it is even worse. I have seen some clips that slipped by the Copy Right mongers, but they ended up being a 10 second opening ad, 15 second clip, then another ad.

And Youtube forces users to keep adding in those text images in order to stop spam, but it hasn't stopped spam AT ALL! It just makes us have to write in that text after posting 5 or 6 comments.

I think Youtube needs a major overall. But the fate of all great things is to be ruined by criminals. But Youtube should by called YouSpam, because that is all I ever see anymore.

I also forgot to mention that "Death" videos are on the raise at Youtube. Humans and Animals dieing for all types of reasons are being posted more and more on Youtube. Youtube shouldn't be catering to psychopaths!

you pretty much need to know exactly what you're looking for on youtube, just browsing can be pretty messy.

On Youtube lots of people duplicate videos and stole videos from someone else and don't put any kind of credits.

YES! If let's say iI want to see a Family Guy clip. I will have to search through pages of finds just to find the whole clip. Some will post it without the voices. Others will cut it short. Others will blanket it with spam. I still like Youtube, because of the Mobile aspect of it. But I'm tired of seeing the same clips, masked with spam, hidden behind violence, and tagged with the same generic comments. And now that Google owns Youtube, they remove Copy righted content. So I barely ever find good clips anymore. It just doesn't make any sense to me. You would think networks would welcome the sharing of their content.

It is like if a company wants to show off a product in a movie, they have to pay the producers. But if the producers accidentally have that product in the movie, they own the company money! Free advertising used to be one of the greatest gifts to companies! Now companies sue people! They don't understand that those of us that want to share content, are the ones who own 200+ DVD's and buy their products!

It is getting really difficult to search for stuff on youtube these days. I was looking for a Kung-Fu Demonstration video the other day with a friend. I made the mistake of typing in Kung-Fu Master, I got every two-bit Kid with a camera doing crappy vids. I really hope they tune the search or force some sort of better tagging of the vids. I wanted to see this really cool video of this real Kung fu master doing some sort of sword demonstration in a china, but never managed to find it again. :-(

the worst is clicking on a video that you think is legit, then finding out it's some compilation with linkin park music. grrrrrr

Yes i agree youtube is turning into alot of rubbish.

Yeah you are right. But the problem is, that it was made for it. It's a website for publishing videos, and naturally everyone one has junk to offer. The main irritation is that it has mixed video of different languages, and there are no filters to get rid of them!

I'm almost getting sick of those copyright laws, they are becoming ridiculous.

One of my friends is a professional sign language interpreter. What she does a lot (to get paid for also) is record herself signing songs.

She had this video where she was signing a Rascal Flatts song. It was My Wish (I think there was one more also). She had the video there for a year...then apparently Rascal Flatts filed copyright infringement because she signed their song. Well, they claimed it on two of her songs...but she still has Sarabeth, and many more songs sang by them on there...what's the difference?

It is just so odd. I think it is going to one day be illegal to use songs for any purpose other than listening...not for background music at a fair, not for a cool magic show...nothing.

Youtube has more than just music, but its the music videos that they freak out over more than anything.

The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, contends that nearly 160,000 unauthorized clips of Viacom's entertainment programming have been available on YouTube and that these clips have been viewed more than 1.5 billion times. (PDF: Viacom's complaint.)

Viacom, an entertainment giant that owns Paramount Pictures, DreamWorks and a number of cable channels, said it has also asked the court for an injunction to halt the alleged copyright infringement.

"YouTube appropriates the value of creative content on a massive scale for YouTube's benefit without payment or license," Viacom said in its complaint. "YouTube's brazen disregard of the intellectual-property laws fundamentally threatens not just plaintiffs but the economic underpinnings of one of the most important sectors of the United States economy."

If you guys want to see clips from TV shows, go to hulu. Yeah, they're owned by the corporate dogs, and the number of clips is limited, but it also has full HD episodes, so I'm not complaining.

I like youtube for the instructional videos on any subject.

I wonder if anyone knows whether you can watch eps from hulu or cbs or the major sites on their cell phone? I've been able to watch youtube, but I can't seem to get the other two to work. The web sites are "too big", or something like that.
