I have Norton AntiVirus 2009 with AntiSpyware. It works pretty quietly. It also seems to be a lot lighter on my resources. It performs background tasks and everything! It is pretty nice and stays out of my way.
I recently switched from Windows Live OneCare V.2...it was horrible. It bugged me and when I installed Norton, Norton found 12 or more things (including system crashing virus/hacker software...but it was inactive) that Windows Live OneCare NEVER found.
What do you use? Any griefs against Norton 2009? What do you recommend on my next switch?

Norton is a notorious resource hog. I have been using the free programs for several years now (Avast! on my Win XP Pro PC, and Avira on my Win 2000 Pro PC), and have had no problems with viruses. Another good supplement to the antivirus programs is an anti-spyware program called MalwareBytes. You can download either the free or the paid version here:

AVG is very good - I too use it and haven't had a problem with viruses. No need to pay for the premium version, as the free edition is good enough . I also use "Spybot Search and Destroy", and "HijackThis" for removal of those particulalry malicious undesireables such as tracking cookies and adware. I've never had a problem with a virus in 2 years - and that's when I first started using these 3 tools .

My love runs deep
I'm a heavy surfer, I surf all over the Internet, and that includes surfing adult entertainment oriented websites on a sporadic basis. I've had some computer technicians try and talk me into using Norton's all inclusive security suite, 360. And I've read reviews on C-Net and elsewhere from people who curse at Norton. I have no opinion of Norton, other than the fact that 360 causes people problems.
I've been using Avast going on three years now. Avast is and has been on top of the Conflicker issue. They addressed that issue specifically and sent a message to each and every user about how they're aware of Conflicker back when Conflicker was casting fear worldwide. Be it Conflicker or any other virus, Avast has never let me down. Thank you, Avast, for the great job you do in protecting a machine I love to death.
