I have found a video online that I downloaded (saved target as) that I need to place on a DVD+RW disk and then have it successfully play on a standalone player...
I've tried several empty disks and the DVD player always says "Playback may not be available on this disk"...
Help me get through this...and yes, i've tried converting it.

Re: Making a DVD for a DVD Player
I remember that Nero 9 offer a tool for importing flv and burn as DVD. It is $79.99.
What is the video format you downloaded? Most of the videos appear to be .flv online now. If yes, you can use FLV to Video Converter to get mpeg or vob after conversion. Burn to DVD with burning software.

Re: Making a DVD for a DVD Player
I use convert xtodvd program. I download Tv shows for the family in a Avi format and then use that program to convert and burn dvds. There are others out there but I like it because I also go find the subs for them and the subs get soft coded meaning they can be selected by the dvd player. Good luck.

Re: Making a DVD for a DVD Player
You got to convet the .avi or .divx movie to DVD format.
Easyest way I have found is with winavi converter.
This link is my copy for you to borrow.
Next: You can't use DVD-RW; got to be DVD -R. I had sucess with Grey TDK brands, and no sucess with others.
I have a tutorial, but it is in serious need of revisions.

Re: Making a DVD for a DVD Player
Thanks for the link (enjoy the rep).
Yea, I'll see about going down and buying DVD-R. You said you had a specific brand that was successful (in the above post). Where might you find that brand? Staples, Office Max, where?
Thanks--Have a great day.
Just downloaded and tried the file...it won't open.
It says it is an invalid Zipped folder and cannot be opened.Last edited by nicknrm; 03-28-2009 at 06:51 PM. Reason: Auto-merged Double post

Re: Making a DVD for a DVD Player
Sounds like you have some good advice. Yes WinAvi is a top program for conveting also. One of the fastest. I just prefer the convetxtodvd one because I am putting like four eposodes on a dvd and Like the menu system. And of course because of my deafness its good to have the sub titles available when I need them. You mentioned Dvd -R. I prefer the Dvd +R. seems more compatable with many players. If you have a + or - Rw burner. One of the reasons we used to avoid putting Dvd on Re writeable (RW) was the lazer was too strong on many of the players. Here is the top site for going to learn about how to do what you want as well as many other things. Evaluation of Dvd burners players and even media. Good luck with your project. Here is a link to that other site.
videohelp com, I cant post the link not enough posts. Spam prevention. Oh well

Re: Making a DVD for a DVD Player
Thanks for posting the link. I dont have enough posts to give the link. LOL. I am not used to be so crippled. I am hoping they find the information that they need. I have run into so many people that buy a computer from a retail shop, they are just under the impression that all they do is put it in and it just does it. Not their fault its the sales people and the industry trying to make it hard. Now back to talk on Cell phones. See you around

Re: Making a DVD for a DVD Player
Many DVD players imply will not play RW discs.
Try regular CD-Rs.

Re: Making a DVD for a DVD Player
Actually, I take it back. you can download a avi file put it on a CD or DVD and play it with the Philips DVP5990 DVP5992 player. I just got two of them off ebay. Unit even plays avi straight off a USB drive.

Re: Making a DVD for a DVD Player
I have made a movie with Windows Movie Maker, but I can't find a way to play it on a regular DVD player. I have tried saving it in different formats and on different CDs and DVDs. Help.

Re: Making a DVD for a DVD Player
I have done the same thing, There is an easy way, you should use RZ DVD Creator, it can convert and burn any videos to DVD disc(DVD-/+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-DL,DVD+DL, etc), including avi to DVD, mpg to dvd, wmv to DVD, mp4 to DVD, flv to DVD, etc.
Only few steps, work well, I like it, and i believe that once you try it, you will like it too.
Following is a step by step guide:

Hope it can help you.
