I don't know how to get an MPEG-4 file off my hard drive. How do you delete them off your machine? I tried to move a bunch of them to the Recycle Bin but they won't budge. I think the stubbornness might be related to Nero as the files will play only with Nero and not with RealPlayer or Windows Media Player. I went into Nero's control panel and I didn't see an ON/OFF button. As you can see from the image I posted I get an error message.

May be it's locked by another program/process.
Try to install "Unlocker assistan" it's great in such situations!

Try using Window's task manager (processes tab), CTRL+SHIFT+ESC, to quit processes you suspect may have locked the files you wish to delete.

Reboot windows, enter safe mode by pressing the f8 key right before windows loads, select safe mode, boot to windows, login to windows, find the files, and delete them.
A less tedious way to do this is install a reputable virus and malware detector/scanner/remover (i.e Mcafee, Norton, something well known and not in itself a virus/malware), and have it check the files to make sure they are not infected.

Sounds like a virus. MP4 aren't special files and should be easy to delete like any regular old file.
