XP is a lot sleeker then I expected. The stock colors are kinda gay and they're the first thing I changed. The second was the start menu.. too cluttered... third was the grouping feature on the task bar.. too annoying using AIM and multiple MSIE windows..
Besides those things, it runs just as good as 2k Pro, but is a lot more user friendly. I can tell many things are based on 2k Pro just by looking at it. I must add that it was a quick and painless upgrade, compared to 2k being like loosing your mouse and having to type everything in. Must easier on the install
So far I'm happy with it. Also shuts down and starts much faster.. something that is always good.
Anyone else have it and wish to share?

I love XP. I have the home edition. I like many features included in this upgrade that weren't in the Millenium. Anyway, I must admit, it does start up much quicker. That was one of the claims Microsoft made. However, as to shutting down faster, I think at first my PC did, but now, it takes longer than it used to with Me. Anyone have any ideas why?

Found XP Pro to be as good as expected but as for shutting down
it does take longer than 98 or ME on my system due to the network. It seems to take ages closing network connections.

You guys have no ideas how many fierce arguments this subject has caused on several other boards I've been to...
I am impressed with how this one is going (again, being a little late to the conversation...)
I have tried both XP and 2k - I will continue to use 2k (mostly because I found XPs "sleek new design" to be vulgar, insulting and I took great offence to it)
Most bugs in Win2k (in my experience, and with others I've talked to) were associated with the OS before service pack 2's release.
I personally have had no problems with it.
XP (for me) ran much slower on the whole, but did start and shut down faster.
Others I've talked to have had LARGE problems with different CD burners (and other hardware) as well as (specifically) the New Creative Labs Soundblaster Audigy soundcard - Grabbed my interest as a MIDI'er.
MMmmmm MMmmm MMmmmm - Love that Win2k.Last edited by theARTISAN; 07-11-2002 at 05:27 AM.

OH! Important if you're going to run WinXP
I'm sure everyone knows about the spyware "features" coded into WinXP -
Here is a great proggy that removes/deactivates the spyware in any version of WinXP! It's called XPAntiSpy.
GREAT proggy - and there is a detailed info text file that tells you more about what it does...
I would never run XP without this!
Njoy!

No one ever could force me to change back to Win2k or Win98.... Even if WinXP have some problems, like how to find tools if you do not know how it may be named... If you find something by accident, good, in the other case, it's your problem...
