XP professional is the best unless you play old games or GTA3.

Depends on what you are using it for. Windows 2000 is more stable, it doesn't have as much bloat as XP but XP is easier to install and maintain.

I am currently using XP Pro on all of my PC's. I think it's the best M$ OS to date.

W2K...I think it was too stable for Microsoft so they had to figure out a way to make things more convoluted with XP...although XP is pretty cool

I agree that the more newer OS's are much more stable, especially Windows 2000 and 2003. Same goes for XP, but the GUI takes up a lot of memory and being on 128Mb is a no no, as I discover each day...

    Guess What!

I didn't say what I think is the best.

I think the best would be windows 2000 or windows 98.

I am currently using windows 2000 server edition. Using a server version makes a difference on your midis, music and internet connection.

    2K.
I've tried XP, and while it's definately better than any DOS-based Win (95/98/98se/ME), it has a few problems:
    1. Tons of coded-in spyware.
Get and run XPAntiSpy to remove/disable them:
    http://www.xp-antispy.de/index.html
    2. Very much of a bloated resource pig. You'll need about twice the amount of RAM to effectively run XP as opposed to 2K.
    3. Any program or OS with an activation scheme gets my goat.
and what fun is having ANY OS without a goat?
