2K is good, but it takes so long to load up.... XP Pro is 20,000x better than XP Home. i love me my xp pro, it really is the best windows OS.

although, i've never used linux or unix... i hear they're good.

oh, and Mac OSes just plain suck.

    Interesting...
The first comment i see in this thread regarding MacOS is quite negative and without any reason thereto...

The next just says that it's a users preferred OS - but still no reason...

Personally, I like MacOS due to the fact that, first of all, there's hardly any vira that affects it.
Secondly they produce the greatest innovations for the computer-industry

It's especially interesting to see how winXP was shown in the ads...
They told about all the products and innovations that MacOS9 came with...

Personally I use a windows-based PC, with money being the first (and only) reason...

for the rest of the operatingsystems i have to choose DOS6.0 on the same place as WIN2K...
The rest will never work for me

I think most people who swear by Windows OS' have either never really tried anything else or they are stuck in the Windows world for one or more of the following reasons:
    a. they don't know any better
    b. it is the crap that comes pre-installed on most machines for sale anywhere
    c. they are afraid to try anything else
    d. can't afford a MAC
    e. they have become very (specific) software dependant and
-can't find similar software on *nix
-can't sacrifice the running performance by emulation
    f. they just HAVE to have something to complain about...

My advice would be to open up your world a little bit and try something different. Everyone complains about how expensive Microsoft software is, and how they have a stranglehold on the software and tech world... Why is this? It's because everyone keeps buying their stuff, no matter what they do, no matter how much it costs, no matter how how many thousands of security flaws it contains, no matter what else is out there... etc, etc, etc.
    Anyone wonder how this happened?
Anyone know who has the power to change this?
If you have a CD burner and a broadband connection, you can download CD images for over a dozen different popular Linux distributions (If you don't want to spend the 30-80$ for a packaged version with support and manuals)

OS X is built on Unix, not Linux

FreeBSD is also not Linux. It is an OS derived from a version of Unix (BSD UNIX - University of California, Berkeley)

But, yes, both are far better than Windows.

I don't know how you can say that... MAC OS' are far better in virtually every way to Windows (especially for graphics and multimedia) - They are more stable, more secure, more powerful; the only drawbacks are cost, and the lack of many of the same software titles compiled to run on it.
