codec errors

I cant play some avi files with wmedia player. Is there a codec out there ( free) that will help. I'm always offered up a window that says I can purchase drivers , but there must be a freebie out there somewhere? thanks

did it work. I have around 12 codex`s on my pc.. all different ones. You can get a proggy which when you right click on the avi file, it tells you whcih codex u need and points you to the correct place to get it. if you want it I`ll post it here for u

I had the same problem but when I downloaded the latest version of Divx 5.1, I keep getting this weird green screen...?

Anyone know what the problem is? I've tried downloading earlier versions (4.04 is the earliest I can find) and it eliminates the screen but there's a green border and it's still annoying.

I now have 2 div-x players .............. Div -x 2.0 is better for me ...no spyware
