lately whenever i open a saved webpage (HTML file) from my folder, i get this message

'Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience'

Then the windows explorer closes. sometimes the HTML file opens but sometimes it doesn't.

    Anyone knows why?

    Thanks.

Does this happen with every saved HTML document?

yeah....the ones (HTML files) that i've saved lately and old ones too.

ok...now the error message also comes randomly. i just found out that if i don't click on 'close' in the error window, and i just drag it below to my taskbar, nothing happens. so for now, i just ignore the error message.

zandro i tried em but they didn't work.
anyway, i had this trojan.esepor virus and after i removed it, this error stopped coming, although the trojan infected some other files and not explorer.exe.
    funny...

    thanks anyway.

Install and execute Ad-Aware. That should seek and quarantine any files that are infected with a trojan.

Did you go to the Windows site and scan your computer for all the remaining fixes?

Sounded like a downloaded trojan... I just dealt with a few new ones on a friends computer ...just keep Norton updated and keep scanning those downloads. (especially the Windows folder and System 32...). Install those critical updates when you can if you haven't already.

That Ad-Aware 6.0 is cool too.

What operation system are you using? Can you open HTML files from cmd.exe (the command line)? If not what happens? Which program are you trying to open these files with? If Internet Explorer have you tried opening it with other programs, like notepad, or an alternative browser?
