I've signed this, and I've been meaning to post something about it for some time now
For those of you who haven't seen or signed this yet, you might want to check this out.
The issue is larger than just whether or not you think file-sharing or music swapping (etc) is right or wrong.
Every win for the RIAA (or other similar mafia) is a loss for the recording Artist (whom they humorously claim to represent), the customer and the technological/legal file-sharing world.

I don't think it would matter but I signed it anyway. They're getting sued right now so that's the reason they haven't been sueing anyone lately. KaZaa Lite is suing them for copyright infringement and I hope they bleed those bastards dry and pay back everyone the RIAA has taken from. If you want, just get the new KaZaa Lite with IP blocker and that'll help keep you safe from the RIAA.

But if you sign this, won't the riaa know who's been downloading music?

LOL I was going to sign it but then I read about the 12 year old girl that had to pay $2000
She never paid it. I forget who did it but Kazza or Napster or some pro mp3 downloading group gave her mother the money and donated some more to her family. Plus this girl was on the superbowl pepsi commercial so you know she isn't hurting or anything.
I aggree to hate RIAA for what they are doing. They have a deal with my college to track down students they find having any files on their computer shared that they don't like. They tried to ban my account for having some friggen music files from sweden. After writting a nice letter to them explaining that the second 'A' in RIAA is "America" and if they were going to limit my rights baised on another countries media I would sue. Havn't heard back from them since. There may be many people LIKE me, but baby theres only one Eddy Trogen.

you have to step back and think about it....there are similar orginizations dealing with piracy. The porn industry has been dealing with people pirating their pictures but they think that it is actually a good thing because it usually leads to better business for them. Someone from Playboy Inc said that even though people can get the pictures for free anywhere on the net, usually they will still come and either get a subscription to playboy or sign up there...apparently pirating isnt as bad a thing as the riaa makes it out to be
