Cell Phone Reviews

Nokia 7610 Supernova has an elegant and attractive design, which will definitely attract many. With the help of Xpress-on covers it is a breeze to change the outer appearance of this magnificent phone and adjust it to your personal style.
The sliding mechanism works smoothly and looks really stable, the buttons look quite well build as well. The keypad and its buttons are quite hard and they do not offer very good feedback at fast typing. The back side of the phone gives you a pleasantly rough feeling. On the other hand the front side of the phone is totally smooth and entirely covered with a mirror, except for the 4 function buttons. The display beneath the mirror is totally invisible till you turn the phone on, then the mirror disappears and a big (240x320, 16M colors) display emerges.

Nokia 7610 supernova has an unique Theme Colourizer feature, which changes the color of the menus, wallpaper and the illumination of the keypad based on the dominant color shade of the photo.

For navigation it uses a five-way navigation button which consists of soft buttons, ones for starting and ending a phone call. You also have a two-way button for camera and music.

The music player supports MP3, AAC and eAAC+ formats. It also features an integrated FM radio with RDS (Radio Data System). In order to keep the customers satisfied this phone also has a flight profile, which allows you to listen to music even on a plane. The quality of the sound is very good, at least I was very satisfied with it.

This cell phone has an integrated digital camera with 3,2MP resolution, double LED flash light, auto-focus and 8X digital zoom. The quality of the photos is quite astonishing for a 3,2MP camera and the flash light is relatively strong.
You can play and record MPEG4 format. It is also capable of recording video in CIF and VGA (15 frames per second) formats. The video quality is not something special, yet again it is not bad for cell phone. With video player 3GPP you can play and stream videos. On top of everything you can watch everything you have captured with this amazing phone on your TV with a TV-OUT cable. I must admit that this is a very useful feature, as it is really nice and handy to see your photos/videos on a nice and big TV.

Browsing is possible due to WAP 2.0, xHTML (using HTTP/TCP/IP), OMA DRM 2.0 (Digital Right Management), Windows Media DRM 10.0.7 and OMA Client Provisioning v1.1. All this does not provide an unexperienced average user with any useful information. To simplify things, this phone can be normally used for browsing and it also offers some advanced features, while it is still very easy to use.

You can connect this phone with other devices via TV-OUT cable, Bluetooth 2.0, USB connector and 2.5 mm AV connector.
GSM/EGSM, GPRS, EGE 3GPP Release 5, GPRS Multislot class 32 (with up to 100kbps), EDGE Multislot class 32 (with up to 296kbps), CSD and HSCSD data modem (with up to 28.8 kbps) definitely make data transfer a pleasant thing to do, because as you have seen, it offers a nice variety of options for data transfer and all of them are more than capable to do their job fast, which is very important as no one really has the nerves or time to wait for some ringtones, themes, backgrounds or games for too long.

Like with any other cell phone you can send and receive text messages (SMS) and multi-media messages (MMS 1.2). But it also features instant messaging with application Presence (IMPS 1.2), sending and receiving e-mails, audio Nokia Xpress messages and SynchML (local and remote data synchronization). The instant messaging application might be a useful feature, but it depends on who you usually have conversation with.

Ringtones are in MP3, AAC and eAAC+ formats, though there are also some 64 polyphonic ringing tones. Already installed themes include screensavers, animated wallpapers and color schemes.

The phone also has some pre-installed Java (MIDP 2.1) based games and applications, one of them is Yahoo! Go. If that is not enough for you, you can still download and install many more games, applications and themes.

It has an integrated handsfree speaker, it can also recognize voice commands and call the person you want. On top of that it also reduces the impact of the background noise on your conversations, which is quite handy sometimes, yet still this feature could be better.

This cell phone has 64MB of integrated memory and it is possible to expand it with a maximum of 2GB microSD card, which is enough for an average user.

The battery is quite good, with some basic usage it can hold for a week and even with really intensive usage it holds for a couple of days, quite impressive.

All in all Nokia 7610 is a stylish cell phone with some truly unique features. It is a great combination of style and advanced technology available at a quite fair price. Of course you do not get cutting-edge technology, but for what you pay you get more than enough. The best things about this phone are design, good battery, relatively good camera and it is easy to use. Its unique design with the mirror on the front side looks really attractive, but it might get scratched fast. So think whether or not you need/like/prefer stylish phones, if you like them then this is definitely the best choice for you. Otherwise you might still get a bit better phone for the same amount of money. But if you are a bit clumsy and your phone often falls to the floor, it might be smart to buy some other phone.
