After the HTC One, the One Mini and a handful of budget-friendly gadgets in the "Desire" line-up, everyone was expecting HTC to unveil the One Max next. That, however, is not the case.

Earlier today –just one day ahead of Sony's and Samsung's big press conference before IFA-, the Taiwanese manufacturer has lifted the veil on two new smartphones in the Desire line-up: the Desire 601 and the Desire 300. Let's check out all the details

HTC Desire 601 Preview

The Desire 601 sits in the mid-range line-up, boasting a 4.5 inch display with a resolution of540 x 960 and a pixel density of 245 ppi, a Snapdragon 400 dual-core CPU boasting a frequency of 1.4 GHz, an Adreno 305 graphics chip, 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage expandable by up to 64 GB via microSD. The handset is also equipped with a 5 MP main camera and a VGA front-facing sensor. The Desire 601 arrives with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box and the relatively new Sense 5 user interface on top. The gadget arrives with Beats Audio and features the "BoomSound" front-facing speaker setup, and overall, the device is being powered by a 2,100 mAh battery which should provide up to 440 hours of stand-by time, and up to 12 hours and 48 minutes of talk time.

Last but not least, the Desire 601 is the first smartphone in the Desire line-up, to arrive with LTE support.

HTC Desire 300 Preview

The HTC Desire 300 is a more toned-down version of the 601, meaning that it arrives with less the power / specs, but a few similarities as well. The 300 features a 4.3 inch display with a resolution of 480 x 800 and a pixel density of 217 ppi, a dual-core Cortex-A5 processor running at 1 GHz, an Adreno 203 GPU, 512 GB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage, expandable by up to 32 GB via microSD.

Much like the Desire 601, the 300 packs a 5 MP main camera complemented by a VGA front-facing sensor, and arrives with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box, as well as the Sense 5 UI.

Lastly, the Desire 300 is being powered by a smaller 1,650 mAh battery, which makes sense considering the less demanding hardware specs. The battery is said to provide up to 625 hours of stand-by time, and up to 11 hours of talk time.

The BoomBass Bluetooth Speaker and the Vivid Blue HTC One / One Mini Flavor

Aside from these two new gadgets in the Desire line-up, HTC has also revealed a new accessory and the "Vivid Blue" color for the HTC One and the One Mini. I believe that the new flavor needs no extra explanation, so we'll move on to the aforementioned accessory.

The "BoomBass" is a Bluetooth speaker that comes in the form of a cube (measuring 64 x 64 x 63 mm). As its name suggests, the BoomBass is pretty much a speaker system for HTC devices, and features a speaker and a subwoofer.

Availability Details

Although no exact dates have been given, the HTC Desire 601 is expected to hit the European market sometime in September, The gadget will be followed by the Desire 300, which is expected to land in various markets including the UK, in October.

Last but not least, the Vivid Blue flavor for the HTC One and the One Mini will become available sometime in Q4, and the BoomBass speaker system will go on sale on the manufacturer's Accessory Store sometime in mid-October.

This is really cool, the HTC Desire 601 is really slick on design, aside from that the specs is really highly commendable. Can't wait for it.
