As I've probably mentioned before in one way or another, Oppo is one of the few Chinese smartphone manufacturers who have managed to make a name for themselves on the western markets, and for good reasons. Oppo is a very ambitious company, and its smartphone line-up always seemed to push new limits. The manufacturer's latest creation is the Oppo N1, a phablet that is quite innovative, in more than just one way.

The Oppo N1 has been announced in Asia several weeks ago, but no official details concerning availability on the western markets have surfaced. Fortunately, rumors are on our side, and the latest reports coming from the Chinese media and some CyanogenMod slides indicate that the Oppo N1 will go on sale in the west sometime in late November.

In terms of pricing, the N1 is generally priced at around $570 off-contract. Oppo will also offer the device for $99 to ten lucky people, assuming that they are willing to participate in the "Pioneer program".

As to what you'll get for your money, the Oppo N1 packs a 5.9 inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 and a pixel density of 373 ppi, a Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor clocked at 1.7 GHz, an Adreno 320 graphics chip and 2 GB of RAM. There are 16 / 32 GB of on-board storage, but the device lacks a microSD card slot.

One of the biggest selling points of the Oppo N1 is its camera, which sits on a rotating module that can be flipped at up to 206 degrees. Basically, the rear 13 MP main sensor can act as both a rear and front-facing sensor, depending on the position at which it's locked in. This isn't the only innovation brought forth by the N1, as the device also features a touch-sensitive back panel that can be used to navigate through the phone's menus.

The gadget is being powered by a generous 3610 mAh battery, and runs on Color OS, which is an operating system that has been based on Android 4.2. Optionally, the device will also be offered with a custom CyanogenMod ROM.

Hopefully these rumors are correct, and the device will start its world-wide journey by the end of next month. Any thoughts regarding the arrival of the Oppo N1 on the western market?
