Last month ASUS has officially announced and fully unveiled their upcoming Padfone 2, a device that just as its predecessor, it combines the functionality of a smartphone with those of a tablet. For those of you that are not familiar with the concept, the Padfone 2 is not a "phablet" as the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is, but instead it's a smartphone that can be docked in a tablet module.

Nevertheless, when Asus has unveiled their latest creation there was no word on a white model, but as it turns out the company will launch the Padfone 2 in two flavors after all: black and white.

The device looks pretty slick and the white coating makes it even more charismatic, but the bad news –or lack of a good news- is that there's no information as to when the white model will hit the market.

The showcased black model is planned for an international launch by the end of the year when it will be available for purchase in multiple regions.

As for what the Padfone 2 offers in terms of specs, the handset comes with a Super IPS+ LCD 4.7 inch display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 and a pixel density of 312 ppi, a Qualcomm MDM215M quad-core CPU running at 1.5 GHz, an Adreno 320 GPU, 2 GB of RAM, 16/32/64 GB of internal storage, a 2,140 mAh battery and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box with Jelly Bean being planned for a future launch.

Furthermore, the smartphone will come hand in hand with a tablet module that consists in a 5,000 mAh battery of its own which will also charge the smartphone and a 10.1 inch IPS display. The tablet itself lacks any type of CPU, RAM, or any other vital internal hardware, so it will use the smartphone's processing power whenever the two gadgets are docked.

An additional keyboard dock is also expected to be made available, but so far ASUS has not showcased it or revealed its technical specifications.
