If you're planning on buying a new smartphone then you may have already learned about what your options will be in about a month from now. Samsung will unveil the Note 3, Sony is preparing to reveal the new Honami, LG has recently made the G2 official and the list goes on. All interesting devices, but as you already know by now, flagship phones come at a price. So what if I were to tell you that you can get a pretty powerful device at a very low price?

Well, it's true. Google has just dropped the price of the LG Nexus 4 in the Play Store in Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Spain, Korea, the US and UK.

If at launch the Nexus 4 used to set you back $299 or $349 for the 8 and 16 GB variant respectively, then you can now get it at the price of $199 or $249. Yes, the search engine giant has just dropped $100 from the handset's price!

In the UK, the 8 GB model will set you back £159, whereas the variant equipped with 16 GB comes with a new price of £199.

This is pretty mind blowing considering the fact that the Nexus 4 is an unlocked, off-contract smartphone. The N4 now actually arrives at the same price as a new flagship phone on a 2-year contract, and we all know that buying a gadget off-contract is a hell of a lot better than tying yourself to a 24 month agreement.

Anyhow, the majority of our readers should already be familiar with what the Nexus 4 is capable of, but in case you're new to the mobile game, then here's a quick recap of what makes the handset tick. The Google flagship features a 4.7 inch display with a resolution of768 x 1280 and a pixel density of 318 ppi, Corning Gorilla Glass 2, a Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor with a frequency of 1.5 GHz, an Adreno 320 GPU, 2 GB of RAM, 8 / 16 GB of storage, an 8 MP main camera complemented by a 1.3 MP front-facing sensor, Android 4.3 and a 2,100 mAh battery.

One last thing I should mention is that, this price drop might also indicate that Google is getting ready to announce a new Nexus smartphone, possibly one that has been based off of the LG G2.

Any thoughts?
