Several Chinese smartphone manufacturers have struggled to establish themselves on the western market, but only few of them have succeeded. One of these manufacturers appears to be ZTE, and back in January during CES, the company has announced that the recently introduced (back then) Grand S will make it on the US shores sometime in the future. Many months have passed ever since, and now ZTE has announced that the handset in question will be available for pre-order in the States via the official website and through Amazon. Not only that, but the Grand S will also be accompanied by the Nubia 5.

ZTE Grand S Preview

Spec-wise, the ZTE Grand S features a 5 inch IPS display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 resulting in a pixel density of 440 pixels per inch. The device is being powered by a Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor running at a frequency of 1.5 GHz, and 2 GB of RAM. There are 16 GB of internal storage on-board, with the possibility of expanding by up to an additional 32 GB via microSD. In the media department, the Grand S features a 13 MP main camera that is being accompanied by an LED flash, and a 2 MP front-facing sensor. The entire package is being powered by what appears to be a rather small 1780 mAh battery, and everything is being coordinated by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The unlocked GSM device is able to run on 4G speeds over AT&T's and T-Mobile's HSPA+ networks.

ZTE Nubia 5 Preview

Moving on to the ZTE Nubia 5, this particular gadget shares many similarities with the Grand S, and much like the aforementioned device, it features a 5 inch IPS display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 and a pixel density of 440-443 pixels per inch. The Nubia 5 draws its processing power from a Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core chip clocked at 1.5 GHz, and features 2 GB of RAM. In terms of storage, the handset delivers 16 GB on-board, but unlike the Grand S, there doesn't seem to be a microSD card slot anywhere in sight. The device also delivers a 13 MP Konica-Minolta main camera boasting auto focus, LED flash, face detection and panoramic mode, and on the front panel resides a 2 MP sensor. The package is being powered by a 2300 mAh battery and the device arrives with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box. Once again, the Nubia 5 offers HSPA+ connectivity on AT&T and T-Mobile's networks.
