Cell Phone Reviews

The end of October is closing in really fast, and the Nexus 5 is nowhere to be seen. Well, actually, the Nexus 5 has been seen on numerous occasions during these past several weeks. It's only been yesterday when a handful of close-up photos of the Nexus 5 have been posted here on the forums.

But, what I'm trying to say is that, the end of the month is nearing in, and Google hasn’t made the Nexus 5 official yet. Nevertheless, the unveiling date of the device –alongside the new Android 4.4 platform- seems to be getting closer by the day. In fact, Canadian carrier Wind Mobile has been so eager about the Nexus 5's arrival that it fired up a pre-registration page for the device, ahead of time.

While the pre-registration page has been shut down shortly after going live due to its premature launch, the interesting bit is that there was also a list of specifications posted on the page. While there's no guarantee that these specs were 100% accurate, they do seem to match most of the previous leaks regarding the matter.

As such, at least according to the aforementioned Wind Mobile pre-registration page, the Nexus 5 will feature a 4.95 inch display featuring a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a pixel density of 445 pixels per inch, Corning Gorilla Glass 3, a Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, 16 / 32 GB of internal storage, an 8 MP main camera with optical image stabilization, a 1.3 MP front-facing sensor and Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

The device is said to measure 69.17 x 137.84 x 8.59 mm and weigh only 130 grams. Bluetooth 4.0 is also on-board, as well as a SlimPort. The power and volume buttons are supposed to be built out of ceramic.

All in all, the Nexus 5 promises to be a beast, and at the right, affordable (subsidized) price, it will most likely create some waves. We're expecting Google to make the big announcement sometime by the end of this week. Hopefully, the search engine giant will manage to deliver.
