About one week and a half ago, the Android 4.1 update for the Motorola Droid Bionic was entering its final testing phase, as soak-test invites have been sent out to a number of Motorola Feedback Network members that happen to own the aforementioned smartphone. Back then, I've estimated that the official release should commence within the next two weeks or so, and sure enough, Verizon has announced that the update should start rolling-out today, Monday – April 15th.

All that being said, Motorola Droid Bionic owners are advised to keep their gadgets ready, as the newer OS should pop-up on the radars momentarily. Don't forget that this is an over-the-air release and as such, it will most likely be deployed "in phases", meaning that not every Bionic unit out there will get the notification at the same time. Nevertheless, don't hesitate to perform a "manual check" by accessing your handset's "Software updates" menu via "settings", and see whether or not the files are waiting for you.

As for the update itself and what it brings new to the table, first things first your handset's software build number will be bumped to "98.72.22.XT875". Once you apply the package you should notice an increase in performance and smoothness thanks to Jelly Bean's implementation of Project Butter enhancements. Google Now will also be on-board, and I believe that this app needs no introduction at this point.
In addition, expandable notifications will be implemented, the Android 4.1 on-screen keyboard will be included, bringing with it offline voice typing support and better dictionaries, voice and data connectivity as well as Mobile Hotspot have been improved, and Calendar settings have been enhanced. Furthermore, the newer OS has shed some "weight", meaning that MOG applications and Sling have been removed.

Don't hesitate to leave a comment below once you'll received the Jelly Bean update notification, and feel free to check out the source link below if you wish to see the full changelog published by the carrier.
