I am new to cell phone forums and to working with cell phones. I normally just buy my phone from my Cricket dealer and activate it. End of story. I currently own an Audiovox 8900 that is activated for Cricket service. I want to purchase a Motorola Razor from Ebay that is unlocked. How to I go about switching my Cricket Service from my Audiovox to the Motorola? I don't want to purchase it until I am sure that it will work. This may seem like a dumb question, but like I said, this is all new to me....

    Thanks!

When you say "Cheaper" what does that mean in dollars and cents, to you? Meaning what are you willing to pay? Normally new unlocked phone cost MORE than what you will see them offered retail. The newer the phone, the more it will cost unlocked. And unlocked used, you can get at a pretty good price, but you take your chances buying used, since the carrier won't replace it if there is a prolem with it.

If you want to look for "Cheaper" your options will be, catch a deal with a carrier other than Cricket, and be locked into a 1 to 2 year contract, or buy from Ebay or Craig's List and take your chances. www.craigslist.org . With Craig's List pick the city or town near you and search for Cell Phones Or the name of the model phone, under Electronics. Often a face to face deal (being local) can end up cheaper if the person is willing to take cash or cash and trade. but of course that is something you'd need to ask the seller about.

If you are worried about cheap, sounds like it's better that you buy new, with a warranty. Cause it sounds like if you, buy used and it goes bad, the cheap will end up being expensive.
