It was down in Bell South Territory. It was up without issue in SBC
territory.

Very impressive.
That report says that more iPhones were used for _web browsing_ (i.e. hit
more webpages) that WinMo-based phones, and acknowledges that it doesn't
reflect sales of phones.
The last sales figures I found posted for WinMo phones (from Gartner) were
3.1 million in 1Q '07.

The N800 weighs half a pound and is twice the size.
No comparison.

Hmm....You must have seen a different one....
Size N800
* Weight: 206 g (206-135=71g heavier)
* Length: 75 mm (75mm-61mm=14mm longer)
* Width: 144 mm (144mm-115mm=29mm wider)
* Thickness: 13 (/18) mm (18-11.6=6.4mm thicker)
Size and weight iPhone
* Height: 4.5 inches (115 mm)
* Width: 2.4 inches (61 mm)
* Depth: 0.46 inch (11.6 mm)
* Weight: 4.8 ounces (135 grams)
Not anywhere near double in size. Real speakers and a changeable
battery and memory cards aren't THAT heavy...(c;
Of course, mine weighs lots more if you consider all those
PROGRAMS and VIRTUAL PALM PILOT I've added to it....(c;

All this doesn't really matter. I don't have to hold mine to my
ear to talk on the phone....which looks really silly no matter
how you spin it.

You'll have to excuse Kurt- his view of the world is somewhat skewed, due
to the position of his head up the Apple corporate ass.

He was usin' an Apple measuring stick on the N800...(c;
Over at Best Buy, one of the Apple boys said, in reference to the
N800 someone had asked me about, "It isn't a PDA, either."
It was priceless. "Yes, er, ah, it is.", I smiled. Just the day
before I had mounted the beta version of Garnet Virtual Palm OS
Machine on it:
http://www.access-company.com/products/gvm/index.html
adding another 30,000 or so more programs it can now run...or
will very soon. VM is in beta and is free. I'm hoping they'll
turn it 90 degrees to landscape mode so it fills the screen in
the final release, but, functionally, it sync'd right up with my
Palm Desktop and runs all the Palm software I had installed on my
little Pilots, before. It syncs over the wifi or internet if
you're "out" somewhere. You do have to tunnel it through the
router's firewall, before you go. Paying SELLphone to sync it
is, of course, unnecessary.
It even made Palm Pilot noises during the demo on the stereo
speakers in front.......PRICELESS...(c;

Personally, I find Kurt's positions quite reasonable. Unlike the Oxfords
of the world, Kurt doesn't pretend his iPhone is the be-all, end-all,
device for everyone, just that it's the best mobile device for HIS needs.
Equally, I'd never suggest it isn't the right phone for him, despite the
fact it isn't for me.

Exactly. I saw the N800 and saw large device that does a whole lotta
stuff I'll never need. Never been a fan of 3rd party apps the way they
wreaked hovoc on my Treo. Aside from the techies (like all you guys) I
think most of the world want a device that is small, works fast and has
a good amount of functionality.
I can't imagine navigating around the N800 being any easier than the
iPhone. The N800 looks potentially like a great travel replacement for
a laptop, but having to add hardware on to get it more like one makes me
prefer a small laptop. Waiting to see what Apple unveils in January.

I use Invisible Shield (similar coating they use on helicoptor rotors),
no smudges. Can't imagine what you mean about it being big, it's smaller
than my Treo was. Fits in my front pants pocket, flat.
No goofy holsters.

Now see, I wanted a phone that did web, email and contacts all easily
synched with my desktop. To click virtually one button to get something
is great. I wanted it small, but functional. iTunes is a nice bonus.
iPhone keyboard is plenty big when you turn screen from portrait to
landscape mode (Another great feature).
I think the N800 is a great tablet, and good for those who do a lot of
typing. It's also still kind of what you call "WebTV" just bigger, with
more features.
How do you carry yours around?
