I am trying to make GPRS work on the new
SLVR L7 I just bought. I entered all the settings
given at :
http://www.cellphonemall.net/wireles...stom.aspx?id=4
But I cant get the network working.
I just bought my phone from a cingular store.
Does anyone have this working ? Can someone
help me.
Also, what is the best pricing available on
this phone? I paid $169 with 2 year contract.
Anyone can get this phone any cheaper from
anywhere else? (Maybe UK?) I can see that
amazon is selling it for $50 after rebates
but it seems out of stock.
Any comments on better pricing than
cingular stores?
Another question: Is there a way to access email on the
phone (on any phone on cingular) without being taxed by
cingular for every kb you get? I would like to communicate
over the phone on my "minutes" instead of the crappy
Media/one taxing system.
Thanks,

See the FAQ below.

Take it back to the Cingular store and ask them to get it to work.

CSD uses minutes. $4/month if available in your area. Again, see the FAQ.

Radio Shack has it for $149.95 with a 2 year Cingular contract.
I looked at it but settled for a V3 at $79.95. The SLVR L7 is
a nice looking phone.

Re: Questions on Motorola SLVR L7 (Cingular)
It seems that amazon is offering the phone for $50 but does not
have any in stock. Should I wait for it to come in stock or is the
price too good to be true?
Thanks,

$50 isn't too good to be true. Radio Shack, when they first started
carrying Cingular had the V3 on sale for $28.95, I think it was.
Local store said some were lined up to get in when the store opened.
Whether you wait or not is up to you.

They removed CSD according to my local store
Also I was looking to buy the cingular 2125, and they removed
Media-net on that phone!!! They wont let me add media.net
on a 2125 (They necessarily want to extort $40/month)
for the data package for PDAs!
(According to my local store, Is this really true?)
I was thinking of moving from verizon to cingular. I bought
a slvr l7 and returned it today. Buying took 5 minutes,
returning took 3 hours! (I hope they improve or else be
killed by Verizon and Sprint ... )
Best,

The problem comes from taking advantage of the subsidized price for the PDA
phone from Cingular. Had you just signed up for a SIM-only plan, or used a
SIM sold with a conventional phone, you would have been able to add MEdia Net
and use that SIM in a PDA phone (or in a PC card in a laptop).

I'm using MEdia Net on a pay-as-I-use basis with my Treo smartphone.
(For +my+ usage, I haven't even used $2 worth of data per month.)

The 2125 is considered a Smart Phone in the PDA family, that is why they are saying the 39.99 PDA connect plan for it. it uses the windows mobile 5.0 system just like the HP Ipaq does.

When I got my plan last June, I asked "Do I +need+ a data plan to use
the phone? I'm not planning on using it for that much data," and was
told "no", and that any data I did use would be charged as I use it, at
the MEdia Net rate of $0.01/kb.
This is with a Treo 650 PDA/Smartphone, and I got it at a Cingular
corp. owned retail store, not a reseller or kiosk.
