I noticed this past weekend that my unlocked Samsung E-715 that I bought
when I was with T-Mobile starting losing connections. Now I can not pick up
a tower anywhere. The phone is unlocked and I have been using it for
months. I am on a family share plan and my brother has the same phone with
the exact same problem, same timing.

Does anybody know why and what can be done.
My simcard works because I tried it out in a Cingular phone with no
problems. The problem lies with my unlocked phone which seems to locked out
again. I wonder if there was a frequency change.

My phone is 900/1900 and Cingular is known for 850/1900 but if they moved
all their towers last weekend to a new frequency "all to 850" then there's
    nothing I can do.

Well its very possible they are doing maintenence, but why would my simcard
work in the next's guys phone perfect, but not in my phone. Nothing has
happened to my phone. By the way I put a tmobile simcard in it and it
worked fine, it showed cingular as the service though.. guess because phone
    is already personalized.

Sounds like your SIM is from a GSM-850 market and you're in a GSM-850
market, so they won't let you roam onto the T-Mo GSM-1900 tower. Last
week I was in a GSM-850 market and could hit T-Mo's GSM-1900 signal,
but my local friends could not (I'm from a 1900 market).

This presumes that T-Mo is listing the available tower as Cingular for
some reason, such as consolidation of towers or older MNCs. Get a
1900-only phone and see how things work for you.

    tg.

That does not make sense to me. When I put a T-mobile SIM card in my E715,
it shows T-mobile across the top of the screen. When I put a Cingular SIM
card in it, Cingular shows up.

That depends on both the phone and on the SIM.
