Wife and I have two Cingular Samsung phones, the SGH-d407 and
SGH-d357. I'd like to transfer the contact list of one phone to the
other, but cannot figure out how to do this using Bluetooth:
- The phones recognize and accept each other with Bt.
- I tried to send individual contacts but get the message "Name Card
Send Failure". Even if it worked, I'd rather send the entire
contact list than individual contacts.
- Looked in the wikipedia Cingular FAQs but nothing there.
- Googled but couldn't get more information.
Can someone guide me out of this thicket?
Thanks,
BF

Another possible option is to use PC sync software, transferring one to
a PC, and then transferring PC to the other, which can usually be done
for all contacts at once. An additional advantage is that the contacts
get backed up that way.

Good idea. There are several programs out there, any suggestions?

Re: Transferring the contact list btwn phones using Bluetooth
Most Cingular corporate stores have a CELLBRITE unit where they can
transfer contacts from one phone to another including the SIM even if
it's different technology (ie Nextel Moto phone to Samsung). It only
takes about 2-3 minutes to transfer your contacts.
Another option would be to copy them to your SIM then pull the SIM and
put in the new phone and copy back to the address book. However the
SIM will only hold name and phone number only so if you have an entry
that has multiple numbers (home, work, mobile, ect) it will copy them
individually.

Re: Transferring the contact list btwn phones using Bluetooth
The original question was, how to get two Samsung bluetooth phones to
talk to each other.
And the answer is, they started working on their own after I connected the
phones via bluetooth to a PC. So now I can transfer contacts directly
phone-to-phone. Go figger.

And the answer is Samsung's PC Studio, because the other two I tried
to use, MobileMaster, and MobileEdit!, could never connect! Go figger
that too.
